Little Known Baby Facts

You probably aren't aware of just how quickly babies can change and grow. One second they are just a few cells and the next they've got the beginnings of brains and lungs and other important organs. In just forty short weeks they go from those few cells to living creatures who are able to live on their own. Even after birth the changes happen quickly-personalities and decision making seem to happen almost at once. You might think you already know quite a bit about babies because you know how often they need someone to change their diapers, how quickly they learn to move on their own and how rapidly they pick up speech. Here are some things about infants that you might not yet know. Also, be sure to study up on ways to stop bedwetting!

Did you already know that there are three hundred bones in an infant's body? When a person becomes an adult there are only two hundred and six bones in his or her body. You do not lose any bones as you grow up; the reason an adult has fewer bones than a baby is because as the baby grows some of his bones fuse together. Many believe that this is one of the main reasons that a baby is so much more flexible physically as an adult-because the bones are able to move independently of one another in infancy. If you stop to think about it, it does make some sense: when was the last time you could put your feet in your mouth?

Music can be heard and recognized by babies even before they are born! Different songs can be recognized by the time an infant is thirty four weeks along. This means that the baby spends more than a month in the womb being able to identify different types of music! Some mothers even report that their babies will move in time to the beat of certain songs. This could mean that a person's musical taste is instinctual instead of conditioned. How fantastic is that?

While most doctors recommend against consuming mercury while a woman is pregnant, eating non mercury forms of fish can be quite healthy. Salmon is a fish that is highly recommended by doctors because it does not contain any mercury and it is full of vitamins and minerals that are good for you and your growing fetus. There are experts out there who believe that eating fish while she is pregnant can help a mother improve the function of her baby's brain and that will help her child develop superior communication skills later in life-more so than those children born to mothers who did not eat fish. This has not yet been proven beyond a doubt so if you do not eat fish, there is no need to panic.

You will be astounded by all of the things that you can learn about babies. The rapidity of baby growth is astounding to most people. Have you learned the exact process by which a baby matures? Has anybody told you just how many changes occur between when your baby is conceived and when he or she has a baby of his or her own? Infant development is an incredibly interesting subject to learn about-just look at the neat things you've learned already. Last but not least, look over this excellent bedwetting information. Highly recommended.
