baby development month
What can I do to boost my 5 month old baby's development?

Okay, so on a daily basis I try doing tummy time and feeding her solid food, but neither have been working out too well! I've tried giving her rice cereal twice, and she spits it out. I give her applesauce and banana's also, and she likes those, but only eats about 1/4 of a little gerber pack at each sitting. When I do tummy time, after about 2-3 minutes she gets really frustrated and starts to cry or scream. I give her toys and I even try playing with her while she's on her tummy but she still complains. Am I doing something wrong? I would love some advice.. thanks!

Well the key is good food. This mean her drinking either breast milk or a good quality formula with omega three and six. Omega three and six is a key in a child development. If you want her to be super healthy start making home made purees or fresh home made. They are easy to make and healthier then from a jar. Also you can start (at six to seven month) given her mushed fresh food. Such as squash, apple, banana, strawberries, or pretty much anything that can be mushed. Also if you can buy/afford organic foods that it also great. FRESH. ORGANIC. HEALTHY. Most packaged food has a tone of preservatives. Rice cereal has really no nutrients in it. Unless it was a whole grain organic cereal is it just nutrients less calories.

She is still a bit young to start on food you could easily wait another month. Right now she need either a good formula or breast milk. When she is six or seven months you can start giving her sugar free apple juice that is diluted half and half.

Lots of babies hate tummy time. I know my baby did. She never really liked going on her belly. She would just scream. Remember all babies are different. Some babies walk at 10 months some not until 18 months or later. Don't push it and don't worry about it.

Good luck!
