What could be wrong with my niece?

My niece is 10 months old, and is lacking in development. Height and weight wise she is average. She can barely sit up with out support. She can't bare any weight on her legs. She is not active at all, but she does make eye contact, and is making small baby talk. People say that is a good sign. Doctor says it appears her hearing is well but they tell me it too soon to really tell what is wrong with her. MRI noticed nothing wrong.

She could just be delayed, but I would definitely get a second opinion and have another MRI done....it never hurts. Hope this helps. By 10 months a baby should at least be sitting up on his or her own so that should be an indicator that something is going on. Its true that children do things at there own pace. Some are walking by 10 months like my daughter was and others don't even crawl until then, but still it doesn't hurt to get a second opinion.
